The Code of Conduct
ENKNEAUXN emerged from the acknowledgment of my own complex individuality. The extensive range of experiences and people life has brought me has allowed me to navigate and explore different parts of my self and potential. I don’t tend to follow “codes” to “switch”.
So this code centres individual intersectionality and, followed correctly, reminds us that actions have collective impact. Wellbeing is interdependently sustained, not just individually maintained.
The ENKNEAUXN entity is committed to supporting spaces to be safer, braver and inclusive environments for everyone involved, virtually and in person. Not expecting everyone to be perfect, polished or free from mistakes and misjudgement, especially where restorative practice is a suitable resolution.
ENKNEAUXN commits to continue working across a diverse range of individuals and communities, with cultural awareness.
By using this website or engaging with ENKNEAUXN services, projects, communication channels, affiliations etc, you agree to uphold the following principles:
Inclusivity
Embrace differences in background, identity, opinion and experience. ENKNEAUXN encourages all individuals to navigate their personal journeys and allow for others around them to do so too, whilst acknowledging the impacts we have on each other. ENKNEAUXN does not act as a community, instead supports and develops communal experiences.
Discrimination, hate speech or harassment will not be tolerated. There will be ENKNEAUXN spaces where illegal offensive misconduct cannot be overlooked and must be addressed.
Treat all individuals with basic dignity and respect. If there is someone or people within the space you don’t like or have issues with, aim to remain as civil as possible. If there is a safety risk or concern, please SAY SOMETHING as per the safeguarding policy. This supports space facilitators to be aware and informed when navigating the group dynamics and maintaining everyone’s experience. If a situation arises and escalates to the point where it impacts the space and other individuals, then appropriate actions will follow. ENKNEAUXN’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness will consider space for reactive behaviour, incorporate trauma-informed practice and restorative resolutions where suitable.
Supportive Space
Do not engage in bullying, intimidation or personal attacks within or in connection to ENKNEAUXN spaces. Try to maintain your composure; if it gets difficult tell someone and request some support / to leave / a break out. Try and nip it in the bud if you notice yourself saying, doing or contributing to something unwarranted that can cause someone distress and may trigger a report or concern.
Listen as much as you speak; support those who feel unseen or unheard. Engage and make the most of the experience, encouraging others to interact as much as they’re comfortable to.
If you witness or experience unsafe behaviour, be an active witness or bystander. ENKNEAUXN encourages all involved to appropriately challenge or raise concerns, risks or incidences in a way that does not enable harmful misconduct and dangerous situations. Supporting each other to maintain the purpose of the space, work through any issues and effectively handle any risks that arise.
Constructive Communication
Keep discussions free from malice within and in connection to ENKNEAUXN spaces.
Disagree respectfully. You do not have to agree, get along or interact with everybody. Try to actively be mindful in efforts to minimise saying or doing something recklessly.
Avoid spamming, trolling, disruptive or antagonising behaviour within and in connection to ENKNEAUXN spaces.
On practitioner bookings, professional boundaries are held on and off the date: no dual relationships that compromise the work, no drinking or substance use while holding responsibility, and contact between bookings follows the agreed plan. The full framework sits in the Duty of Care and Safeguarding policy.
Privacy
Respect requests for anonymity or confidentiality.
Do not share private information about others without consent, especially including identifiable details.
Do not push anyone to share (more) information and personal details, especially for any ulterior motives.
Consequences
Violations of this code, terms and/or policies may result in appropriate actions and removal from spaces at discretion.
ENKNEAUXN was not created with the intention of people coming away from spaces feeling worse off and/or meeting people that made them regret attending or wanting to be involved. However, if this is a result of your actions then ENKNEAUXN hopes that you critically reflect on words and actions, deciding if you are okay with continuing that behaviour or if there was anything you feel you should and could have done differently in that situation.
Whilst acting as a professional, ENKNEAUXN practitioners and collaborators intend to be upheld by this code and policies also. However, outside of this, do not hold any external views or behaviours against the business and purpose of ENKNEAUXN.
